Boilers use a similar method, but the heat is instead transferred to water, which gets piped through radiators or baseboard heaters to provide warmth. Electric heat pumps draw existing thermal energy from the outdoor air and amplify it to heat indoor air.
The Ventilation System
Ventilation is, in many ways, the key to central heating and air conditioning systems. Without it, hot or cold air would largely be confined to the room in which it was produced. The primary function of the ventilation system is to deliver hot or cold air throughout the building and bring it back for recirculation.
The critical elements of the system are the blower unit, ducts, air return, and air filter. The blower moves air through the ducts while the return vent draws air back in, and the filter traps dust and other debris to prevent it from damaging the unit or being blown around the house. The ventilation system also plays a critical role in removing humidity from the air with the help of the filter.
